New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals has granted an offshore petroleum exploration permit after a court-ordered reconsideration and released the Block Offer 2020 Invitation for Bids for onshore petroleum exploration in Taranaki.
Specialist deep-sea divers have this week started work off the Taranaki coast to kickstart the second phase of the decommissioning of the Tui Oil Field which is being overseen by the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
The Crown Minerals (Decommissioning and Other Matters) Amendment Act received Royal assent on 1 December 2021 and a number of new provisions are now in force.
