Auckland landlord ordered to pay $177,720.56 by the Tenancy Tribunal for failing to lodge tenancy bonds.
Landlords have just over one month to ensure their rental properties meet the 2016 insulation requirements or face exemplary damages of up to $4,000, and Tenancy Compliance and Investigations says there will be no room for extensions.
The Tenancy Tribunal has recently made orders totalling nearly $17,000 against three landlords as a result of investigations launched by the Tenancy Compliance and Investigations Team.
