National Operations Services’ areas include waivers for managed isolation charges, exemptions from managed isolation, and allocations of vouchers for managed isolation. The Senior Advisor for National Operations Services will be responsible for:
- Providing advice and robust technical guidance across the group including the operationalisation and application of the COVID-19 Public Health Response Act 2020 and associated Orders and Regulations.
- Identifying learning and development opportunities for the group.
- Leading pieces of work across the National Operations Services Branch as required.
The key relationships for this role include Principal Advisor, National Operations Services, Manager National Planning, Prioritisation and Groups Manager, the wider MIQ team including Policy and Communications, and the MBIE Legal team.

- Must have Tertiary degree in relevant field.

Provisions of advice and guidance
Provide technical advice to the wider group including to the General Manager, Principal Advisor, National Operations Services, Manager National Planning, Prioritisation and Groups Manager, Business Manager and Team Leaders.
The role has responsibility for providing advice and guidance within National Operations Services including:
- Supporting managers and team leaders to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Support managers and teams leaders to develop the capability of their teams to achieve business outcomes.
- Providing high quality technical advice, including to the General Manager, Managers and Team Leaders.
- Providing subject matter expertise for Privacy Act, Official Information Act, Ministerial and Parliamentary Questions, media queries and communications documents.
- Liaising with MIQ Policy and MBIE Legal.
- Work closely with MIQ management to understand the operational environment.
Relationship management
Manage constructive working relationships with work colleagues and external stakeholders to enhance understanding and cooperation needed to achieve desired results.
- Participates as an active team member and contributes knowledge and expertise to operational policy and decision making.
- Develops effective working relationships with managers and team leaders, and across MIQ. Represents MIQ and MBIE views and protects its reputation in external interactions.
- Builds strategic alliances with key MIQ leaders to ensure operational influence in their decision-making.
- Tests the effectiveness of stakeholder relationships using a range of appropriate measures and processes (including stakeholder feedback).
