Round seven funding recipients

MBIE approved eight applications for funding from round seven of the Maintaining the Quality of Great Rides Fund. A total of $707,999 was awarded in the seventh funding round.

Hauraki Rail Trail Trust: Hauraki Rail Trail

$123,680 of funding for trail enhancements, signage and interpretation and repairs to damage caused by vandalism on the trail.

Mokihinui-Lyell Backcountry Trust: Old Ghost Road

$45,858 of funding for a comprehensive upgrade of the toilets at the four main hut sites.

Motu Trails Trust: Motu Trails

$10,072 of funding for enhancements on the Dunes Trail, including resurfacing, easing of gradients and construction of a short section of trail to link two new bridges.

Queenstown Trails Trust: Queenstown Trail

$69,224 of funding for safety barrier installation and plantings to reduce the risk of significant fall hazards.

Tasman District Council: Tasman Great Taste Trail

$186,665 of funding to reroute a section of trail away from the river to future proof the trail from flood damage, plus trail widening and enhancements at Kaiteriteri.

Waikato River Trails Trust: Waikato River Trail

$150,000 of funding for enhancements on the Lake Karapiro section of the trail, including retaining wall upgrades and trail widening.

$52,500 of funding for extreme event recovery works to repair damage to the trail caused by heavy rainfall.

Wellington Regional Economic Development Agency: Rimutaka Cycle Trail

$70,000 of funding for extreme event recovery works to repair damage caused to the trail by recent storm events.
