How to apply

Information you need to apply to the Provincial Growth Fund (PGF) for funding.

Expression of Interest

If you are unsure whether your project is eligible for funding from the PGF, you could submit an Expression of Interest. This will help us to understand your proposal's eligibility and to provide feedback.

Submitting an application

Before making an application, we recommend you read our Guide to the PGF. The guide explains in more detail the types of projects that can be funded, the assessment criteria and the information you will need to include in your application.

The information you provide will help us to assess and evaluate projects and investment opportunities.

If you are confident your project satisfies the criteria, please submit an application form by attaching it to an email and sending it to PGF@mbie.govt.nz.

Choose which application form suits you best

If your planned activity costs less than $100,000 and you need funding for:

  • Planning
  • Feasibility studies
  • Business cases, or 
  • Training / capability

If your planned activity costs more than $100,000 and you need funding for:

  • Planning

  • Business cases, or 
  • Training / capability

complete the Development Phase application form

If your project costs over $100,000, and you are already involved in project activities (such as an infrastructure project which has already undergone a feasibility assessment), complete the Project Phase application form.

Completed applications must be emailed to PGF@mbie.govt.nz.

Once submitted, one of our team will contact you to discuss your Expression of Interest or application.
