Electronic Travel Authority consultation

We consulted on the Government's proposal to introduce an Electronic Travel Authority facility for some groups of travellers. The consultation closed on 22 July 2018.

What was proposed

The Electronic Travel Authority facility is a new security and facilitation measure that will help to speed things up at the border.

It aims to enhance security and reduce immigration, smuggling and biosecurity risks. It would cause minimal disruption to travellers and enable more efficient services at the border.

This consultation took place at the same time as consultations on immigration fees and levies and the introduction of an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy.
