Te Pūnaha Hiringa: Māori Innovation Fund provides annual funding to help Māori collectives gain the necessary understanding and knowledge to realise their assets' economic potential.
Te Pūnaha Hiringa Māori Innovation Fund currently funds 4 programmes:
- He Tupu Ōhanga - Commercial Advisors Scheme
- Kōkori Accelerator Business Programme
- Pakihi workshops
- Rangatahi Business Challenges.
He Tupu Ōhanga - Commercial Advisors Scheme
He Tupu Ōhanga - Commercial Advisors Scheme funds Māori collectives to work with a commercial advisor for up to 18 months.
Kōkori Accelerator Business Programme
Managed by Te Wananga o Aotearoa, this programme enables up to 10 Māori businesses to get 4 months of support from business leaders to help develop venture pitches to potential investors.
The Māori Innovation Fund supports up to 200 nationwide Pakihi workshops. These free workshops are designed to help Māori businesses move forward, flourish and succeed. Pakihi provides new skills, a growth plan, mentoring and connections with other business support organisations and networking opportunities.
Rangatahi Business Challenges
The aim of the Rangatahi Māori Entrepreneurship programme is to build entrepreneurship and business skills participation in Māori students. It has a focus on Year 12 and 13 students who can go on to build a pipeline of young Māori choosing business and entrepreneurship as a career.
