GovTechTalent graduate cohorts become a close-knit family – often building long-lasting personal and professional relationships, and keeping in touch after the programme ends, as they transition through into permanent roles.
About the programme
GovTechTalent is a cross agency programme. It is led by the Department of Internal Affairs, and involves a wide range of government agencies including MBIE.
The programme runs from February for 24 months. Graduates rotate between 3 different government agencies, with each rotation lasting for 8 months.
Who we are looking for
If you’ve graduated in the past 24 months or are due to graduate soon, and you’re looking for an opportunity to influence the way government engages with whānau and community, GovTechTalent could be the programme for you.
You don’t need to have a qualification in a technological or digital field, but interest in the digital world we live in is a good thing. If you’d like to explore multiple career paths across government and have the support of your peers and seniors throughout the entire process, GovTechTalent is the perfect opportunity for you.

To be considered for this programme, you must:
- Be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident.
- Be living in or willing to relocate to Wellington.
- Have graduated with (at minimum) a bachelor's degree within the last 24 months or be due to graduate before starting work.
- Be available to work from February.
Positions are Wellington based.
