Applications for round three of the Tourism Infrastructure Fund (TIF) are now being welcomed.

The TIF provides up to $25 million annually to develop tourism-related infrastructure that supports regions facing pressure from tourism growth.

Martin Cavanagh, Manager Investment Management Performance says the TIF is an important tool to help manage tourism growth in New Zealand.

“The TIF allows local government and central government to work together to help deal with the growth in visitor numbers and to build a sustainable tourism system for the future,” said Mr Cavanagh.

“It helps to ease the burden on local councils while creating quality infrastructure and facilities for everyone to enjoy.

“We’re looking forward to applications for a range of projects that look to ease capacity issues and set up communities make the most of benefits of tourism in the future.”

The fund is open to all local councils and not-for-profit community organisations that can demonstrate support from their local council.
