Safer credit strategy launched to address problem debt

A partnership between central government, industry and community organisations has launched a strategy to help people facing financial hardship due to problem debt.

The Safer Credit and Financial Inclusion Strategy is a joint partnership between the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, the Ministry of Social Development, Te Puni Kōkiri, the financial services industry and community partners.

The joint partnership will work together to enhance safer lending products, services and support by strengthening and building on the current networks of financial capability, microfinance and social services.
