Global Impact Visa Evaluation

Published: 04 June 2021

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment has released the third evaluation report of the Global Impact Visa (GIV) pilot evaluation.

The evaluation assessed the implementation, outputs and early outcomes of the GIV, established in 2017 as a 4 year pilot. The evaluation is now complete having provided 3 annual evaluation reports.

The GIV was created to facilitate the attraction, selection and integration of global entrepreneurs who can support or contribute to successful innovation-based enterprises in New Zealand, for the benefit of New Zealand. At the end of the 3-year visa, migrants can apply for permanent residency. The GIV programme is novel in its design as It works to integrate the migrants directly into the New Zealand innovation system, and is delivered as a public private partnership between Immigration New Zealand (INZ) and the Edmund Hilary Fellowship (EHF).
