Extra funding for advice and support for small-medium tourism businesses

Published: 21 July 2020

$10 million has been invested in the Regional Business Partners (RBP) network, enabling small-medium tourism businesses which have been impacted by COVID-19 to seek a wide range of free expert business advice.

Funding has been provided by the Tourism Recovery Fund, under the Tourism Transitions programme which aims to deliver advice and support for small-medium sized tourism businesses.

The RBP network will in turn link businesses to professional advice, at no cost.  Eligible businesses will get up to $5,000 worth of advice and expertise to support business continuity.

RBP advice covers topics like business strategy, finance and cash flow, continuity planning, HR and employment relations, digital and marketing strategy, and health and wellness for owners and staff.  For tourism businesses, it will also include how to hibernate a business.

The funding is expected to benefit between 2,000 and 3,000 small-medium businesses in the tourism sector.  The investment complements the Tourism Transitions Advisory Support Services delivered by Qualmark under Tourism New Zealand.

Businesses with a tourism focus looking for support from the RBP business advisory service should visit https://covid19.nzte.govt.nz/page/regional-business-partner-network(external link) for more information including eligibility criteria.
