Mā te rongo ka mōhio
Mā te mōhio ka mārama
Mā te mārama ka mātau
Mā te mātau ka ora

Through perception comes awareness
Through awareness comes understanding
Through understanding comes knowledge
Through knowledge comes well-being

We have listened to feedback from the sector, and made 2 key changes in this year’s funding round to increase the benefit and impact of our projects:

  • Maximum funding per project is now $250,000 (GST exclusive) for both the Connect and Placement Schemes
  • Co-funding requirement is reduced to 10% of the MBIE funding amount, and is not required to come from a certain partner

Up to $4 million in funding is available in the 2021 funding round for research projects of up to 24 months.

Te Pūnaha Hihiko: Vision Mātauranga Capability Fund invests in people and organisations undertaking or planning research which supports the four themes of the Vision Mātauranga Policy. The fund aims to strengthen capability, capacity, skills and networks between Māori and the science and innovation system, and increase understanding of how research can contribute to the aspirations of Māori organisations and deliver benefit for Aotearoa.

Funding is available through 2 schemes:

  • The Connect Scheme brings the science sector and Māori organisations together
  • The Placement Scheme, which seeks to enhance the development of individuals through placement in either a Research or Māori organisation

The funding round will open 9 September 2020 and close at 12 noon, 11 November 2020.
