Draft Health and Safety at Work (Hazardous Substances) Regulations 2016 PDF Document 1613kb

Summary

The regulations for work involving hazardous substances carry through requirements currently prescribed under the Hazardous Substances and New Organisms Act 1996 (HSNO Act) in regulations, transfer notices, individual substance variations, and group standards, with some modifications to simplify requirements. The regulations also incorporate changes to codify existing good practice, in some cases based on the provisions of the Australian Model regulations.

We are seeking specific feedback on the areas outlined in the discussion document above before the government makes any final decisions.

The government has already made some decisions on aspects of the regulations. These are outlined in recommendations 15 to 17 in Cabinet Paper B. We welcome your feedback on whether these decisions have been accurately drafted in the regulations.
